A non-tenure track appointment is available on August 1, 2017, at the rank of Lecturer in the Division of Science at IUPUC. The position is a ten-month teaching assignment with responsibility for teaching four sections each semester (equal to 24 contact hours per year) and engaging in service activities at the campus.
REQUIREMENTS: The division seeks highly qualified candidates who have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in microbiology, or a related field. Successful candidates should have experience teaching undergraduate biology courses. The candidate needs to be able to teach courses in microbiology and general biology for majors and non-majors. In addition, the candidate needs to have the ability and interest to work with a diverse student population. Candidates should have the desire to improve conditions in and access to higher education for underrepresented students. Strong oral and written communication skills are a must. Successful teaching at the university level is very important.
PREFERENCES: Two semesters of experience in teaching traditional and non-traditional undergraduate students and demonstrated capacity to collaborate with faculty across disciplines. Preference will be given to candidates with a record of teaching microbiology. Preference will also be given to applicants who have a record of teaching and serving under-represented populations and first generation college students and a demonstrated commitment to student and community engagement.
